Martijn, how did you come to work at Veenhuizen? I got into a conversation with a former colleague (in private), where he asked me to come work at Veenhuizen. After a good conversation, I joined the company in June 2017. My job title is new construction mechanic, where I can be deployed in both climate and large kitchen projects. As mentioned, no two days are the same, one day I'm fitting air-conditioning units or refrigeration/freezer units, another day I'm installing commercial kitchens, stainless steel customised units and/or kitchen appliances.
That sounds pretty varied, what skills do you need for this? I obtained my F-gas certificate in 2017, a must for a refrigeration mechanic. I hope to start training as a large-kitchen mechanic at ROC Nieuwegein soon.
What do you like most about your job? I like the variety of the work and the customers the most in my job.
What is a challenge you have in your work? Delivering a project that satisfies the customer every time.
Which project do you look back on with satisfaction? In the area of commercial kitchens, Tony Chocolonely Amsterdam, Loods 5 Duiven, Loods 5 Zaandam, Asian Drive in Restaurant Kampen. We equipped the Lee Towers complex in Rotterdam with an LG multi V air-conditioning system and we also installed an LG multi V air-conditioning system at the Worldfashion Center, which are large and beautiful Climate projects.
What can we wake you up for at night, Martijn? You can wake me up for flyboarding, waterskiing or eating sushi....
In 10 years time... Then I hope to be building restaurant kitchens full time at Veenhuizen! I think this is wonderful work and I am glad that we can realise this with a great team.
